• Money Talks: Qatar turns to new importers of food

For a country that has to import almost everything it consumes, a blockade is one of the worst things that can happen to it. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain say they will keep their air and sea ports closed to Qatar due to a diplomatic dispute. But the small, energy-rich Gulf state turns to other countries, including Turkey, to buy its food. Nicole Johnston reports from the Qatari capital Doha. • Counting the Cost - Qatar economy minister: Challenges create opportunities

On June 5, several countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic ties and cut off sea and air links with Qatar, accusing it of supporting "extremism" and their regional rival, Iran. Qatar may have been isolated economically by its Gulf neighbours, but its financial markets have stabilised after an initial week of losses. The government says it has the resources to cope with the regional sanctions. And Qatar's finance minister is warning that if Qatar loses money, the countries behind the embargo will lose money, too. Credit rating agency Standard and Poor's says Qatari banks are strong enough to hold on, even if all the Gulf money - and more - is pulled out. And it's not just Qatari banks, the UAE's main lenders could also lose out fro...

You may already have applied for a few cabin crew jobs and felt crushed that the recruitment team for the airline read through your whole CV and concluded that you weren’t suitable for the job. See http://mondrago.co.uk/getting-rejected-cabin-crew-jobs/ However, has anyone even LOOKED at your CV? Because here’s the thing- chances may be that NO HUMAN HAS EVEN LAID EYES ON YOUR CV! The truth? Your CV may well have been binned by a CV reading robot called an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) You’re kidding me right? A robot? Airlines receive THOUSANDS of applications for cabin crew each month. So, many airlines are now using Application Tracking Systems (ATS) which is CV- reading software which allow airlines to automate, streamline and manage their recruitment process. When you’re receiving 30,000 CVs per month, as Emirates do, it’s all about SPEED! So, how easy is it to get past this robot? The short answer- not easy at all! In fact, research shows that these pesky robots reject 75% of ALL CV’s So I’ve only got a 25% chance of getting my CV through an ATS? You have indeed! ONLY 1 in 4 CVs sent to an airline ever will reach a pair of human eyes! Step One -Keywords For every job, there are always keywords associated with it and cabin crew is NO exception An ATS will be looking for these keywords throughout your CV and these will be the same keywords the recruitment team has programmed an ATS to pick up Yeah, that’s all well and good but where will I find these keywords? The job description of course…. Check out the job description below for British Airways cabin crew Essential Qualities “You are passionate about delivering service excellence every time You are able to confidently deal with challenging and difficult circumstances and remain resilient throughout You are an effective communicator and you are able to deliver difficult messages with confidence You understand the need to follow rules however you are able to be flexible depending on the situational needs You are able to learn new information easily and quickly apply it correctly You always demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude” So, if we are thinking about keywords, these would all be good for starters: Resilient Confident Good communicator Flexible Positive Oh, that’s really helpful, thanks… And, here’s a tip for you… Find FIVE other cabin crew job postings with different airlines. Check for keywords in these jobs too. If you find different keywords in these postings, add these to your CV too! So make sure you have ALL of the keywords airlines are looking for sprinkled liberally throughout your CV! The more the merrier- the ATS robots will love you for it! Step Two – Be careful of formatting Don’t send your CV as a .pdf file Applicant tracking systems lack a standard way to structure .pdf documents, so they are easily misread. They are becoming better at reading .pdf files but they can still misread important things when processing them, so better send your CV as a word document. Also, stick to standard CV formatting in a normal font like Arial, Courier or Times New Roman. An ATS cannot read fancy font and will reject your CV just because you have confused it! ONLY include the usual sections of a CV- work experience, education, qualifications etc. Applicant tracking systems can’t read graphics and they misread tables. Instead of reading left to right (as humans do), these systems read up and down so a table would be goobledygook to an ATS! To make sure that applicant tracking systems read and import your work experience properly, always start it with your employer’s name, followed by your title, followed by the dates you held that title as Applicant Tracking Systems will look for company names first and we don’t want to confuse the robot do we? Ok, got it- does spelling and grammar matter? I mean, it’s not as if a robot can read right? Wrong! Step Three – Make sure there are NO spelling mistakes Now, I know I have said this (MANY) times before, but spelling mistakes really are the DEATH of your CV! Whilst a human can try and work out what you’re trying to say (before binning your CV in disgust!), an ATS will reject your CV IMMEDIATELY as it simply has NO idea of what you are trying to say! So, whilst it can’t read the way you and I can, it can still identify spelling mistakes (in fact, far more easily than a human can!) So, double, triple, quadruple your CV before you send it off because ONE SINGLE SPELLING MISTAKE AND YOUR CV IS IN THE BIN! Ok, ok- so they can read (in their own peculiar way!) Anything else I NEED to know? Step Four – Put the most important information at the TOP of your CV Now, we know you know this already, but no harm in reminding you! Make sure your key information is at the top of your CV, so when your CV does make it past the robot and encounters a pair of human eyes, they will be able to see very quickly just what an amazing individual you are!

And it's not just Qatari banks, the UAE's main lenders could also lose out from a slowdown in business coming in from Qatar. Qatar's economy minister Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani talks to Al Jazeera about the Gulf crisis and its economic impact. Al Jazeera: What impact has the siege had on the day-to-day life of normal citizens here in Qatar, both Qataris and expats who are living here? Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani: When you talk about the impact, if we look at the Qatar economy, the economy is strong, resilient … All the indicators talk about Qatar's economy being the 18th-most competitive in the world, the second in microeconomic efficiency, good efficiency, so they indicate a very strong financial position for Qatar. Qatar is one of the strongest economies in the world. Looking at the diversification of the economy of Qatar, 61 percent of GDP come from non-oil and gas. Our import - our trade with the world - is 330 billion Qatari riyals. It is a diversified economy, as I mentioned, supported by the Qatar Vision 2030. All these indicators and the strength of Qatar and Qatar's economy gives us some sort of resilience and immunity to deal with such a situation. The blockade is mainly on our land border, around 14 percent of our total trade. We had a clear plan for such a situation; it happened, how are we going to deal with it … immediately within hours, we activated this plan. The alternative source is already identified, and the alternative point of entrance, either by air or by sea, was immediately diverted and we are seeing the supply chain moving very smoothly. Therefore, [although] people in Qatar are used to buying milk and chicken from Saudi Arabian producers, they are now seeing it from other countries. Al Jazeera: You managed to change that, as you mentioned, in just a few hours. Can you explain how? Aside from these impacts, has there been any other impact or has the impact of this siege been minimal? Al Thani: The impact of the siege, or the impact on the economy of Qatar was very limited. As I said, we have a clear plan and we know exactly how to deal with it. What's more, we have built a reserve, a strategic reserve, be it food or other materials, for our projects. That is why we were ready to deal with such a situation immediately, within hours. This plan has been identified. The source has been activated, an alternative source, and we started to import … you mentioned, milk, immediately from Turkey and other sources, and as you can see, the shelves were always full, never empty after the first day of the blockade. We really aren't talking about the primary need for the consumer. We are talking about maintaining the level of the lifestyle that Qataris and those who live in Qatar experience - that's where we are. Today, I'm talking to you, and I am confident, that all the supply chains, from air or by sea, are working smoothly. The goods that used to go to Jebel Ali [in the United Arab Emirates] and re-exported here to Qatar, have been diverted to Sohar and Salalah [in Oman] and by agreement with the main ship lines, we have also announced a direct shipping line from Salalah and Sohar to Hamad Port. We also have a new line which will come directly from India to Hamad Port, so even with the challenges that we are facing, we are creating opportunities for others. Al Jazeera: Aside from having one of the highest GDPs in the world, some of the biggest infrastructure projects are taking place as you're gearing up for the [football] World Cup 2022. Has the siege had an impact on these big infrastructure projects? Al Thani: All the infrastructure projects, even related to the 2022 World Cup, or related to the actual plan for the infrastructure upgrade that we are doing, metro, highways and others … all will be on schedule. There is no impact on it, and the primary materials … some are manufactured here in Qatar, like the cement and the steel and the sand … it is available here and now for Qatar. We even export this for others … immediately, as I said, we have a strategic reserve for more than a year... Watch the interview for more. But rather than notes, this one distributes small pieces of gold. Gold is hugely prized in Turkey not just for ornamentation or investment by banks but as a secure way for private individuals to hold their savings. Many people in Turkey – which has one of the lowest private savings rates among major economies – keep gold as security for a “rainy day” rather than products offered by banks. According to estimates, Turks hold some 3,500 tons of gold. Banks have sought to capitalize on the tradition by offering accounts denominated in gold. “We were thinking about putting all that gold back into the financial system somehow, so we decided to create gold accounts for our clients,” said Seda Yilmaz, marketing manager of the Kuveyt Turk Bank, the first to do so, in 2007. “So we bought 1 kilo of gold, and the demand on the first day was 3 kilos. It was a very good decision, so we decided to move ahead.” Kuveyt Turk manages 200,000 gold accounts with different products allowing sales by check, bank transfer or mobile phone. Now with the introduction of the first ATMs that issue gold as well as the usual banknotes, consumers can withdraw pieces of gold weighing 1.0 or 1.5 grams. The success of the ATMs started a trend, with many other Turkish banks latching on. The volume of gold in their reserves has gone from 2 tons in 2007 to 250 tons. The government has also tried to join the bandwagon with the central bank allowing commercial businesses to hold some of their reserves in gold and opening this up to private investors. “Over the last two years, banks have taken in some 40 tons of gold that people had stashed under their beds. And it’s just a small proportion of the reserves.” Turkish gold jewelers staked their interest in joining the gold investment industry. gold silver bullion atm "gold atm" cash money wealthy "gold bullion" turkey "gold bar" "atm machine" currency gift wedding birth "credit card" bank banking "bank account" "gold account" kuveytturk trends trending trendy future savings "savings account" VIP customer turkish jewelry jewellery coin "silver coin" "gold coin" trading "gold etf" tax market 2015 VAT europe import export dubai "elite nwo agenda" gerald celente jsnip4 demcad montagraph jim rogers marc faber lindsey williams alex jones infowars coast to coast am china gold currency safe haven bilderberg 2015 total collapse prepper survival asset Commercial banks in Turkey held around 250 tonne of gold — worth $10.4 billion — in deposits by the end of 2013, an example India can emulate to monetise huge gold stocks lying with its households to trim imports and maintain trade equilibrium, according to the World Gold Council WGC Turkey imports scrap gold mostly from Germany and the United Arab Emirates, the gold is turned into standard bullion coins and bars in Turkish refineries and exported. Turkey is at a level to compete with international gold refining centers like Germany and Switzerland, Istanbul Gold Exchange The absolutely stunning decision by the Swiss National Bank to decouple from the euro has triggered billions of dollars worth of losses all over the globe. Buying surreptitiously allows Beijing to buy bullion at bargain prices; if the world knew how much gold China was really amassing, a run on gold the likes of which the globe has never seen would likely ensue. “We believe China is controlling the gold price because it is buying in such a way so as not to push prices up.” That’s the opinion of respected precious-metals analyst Julian Phillips of The Gold Forecaster, along with a host of other informed sources. The “perfect-storm” of geopolitical instability, diplomatic isolation, severe currency depreciation, and economic decline now confronting Russia has profoundly damaged Moscow’s international standing, and possibly for the long-term. The repercussions of Russia on a gold-exchange standard would be immense. Above all, it would mean the first major schism in the world’s monetary order. China would quite likely follow suit. It could mean the threat of a severe inflation in the United States should rafts of unwanted dollars make their way back across the Atlantic — the Fed’s ultimate nightmare. Above all, the country will avoid the extreme debt leverages which would not have happened had Western capitals remained on gold. GREENSPAN: YesRemember what we’re looking at. Gold is a currency. It is still, by all evidence, a premier currency. No fiat currency, including the dollar, can match it

The Saudi-led blockade against Qatar has forced the government in Doha to secure food and water supplies from alternative destinations. On June 5, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut diplomatic and trade ties with Qatar, accusing it of "supporting terrorism". Saudi Arabia also closed Qatar's only land border, forcing it to import supplies via sea and air. Freight companies from Iran, Turkey, Oman and India have stepped in to ensure there are no major shortages. Taking advantage of this opportunity for success and profit requires businessmen and women to know the facts behind business setup Dubai to easily jump start their own venture from scratch. 1. Working with a business registration agent The easiest way to start a business in Dubai is to hire a United Arab Emirates [UAE] business registration firm to take charge of the set up. 2. Types of business licenses Local businesses in Dubai can be an LLC, which requires a UAE national as a ‘Sponsor’ with a 51% shareholding on paper. Alternatively, it could be a professional license company where you can be a 100% owner with the UAE national as a ‘Service Agent’. 4.
